Sydney The Singer’s powerhouse vocals and dynamic songwriting meld R&B and modern pop to express the full range of human emotions. Equally capable of directing stylish, emotive music videos and bringing live audiences to their feet, Sydney The Singer is an accomplished independent artist ready to launch from her southern Maine home base to the world.
Sad Szn EP, Sydney The Singer’s latest release, explores the depths of pandemic-era gloom while leaving room for hope (and dancing!) Daydream of escaping to paradise (ECWC), wallow in a toxic relationship (Easy Way Out, featuring Maine rap homegirl Sarah Violette), and rage against feeling stuck in life (Feels Like Rock Bottom). Sam Pfeifle of the Portland Phoenix called Sad Szn “a bit of a coming-out party for Sydney, who offers here some radio-ready R&B that feels right in the moment.”
Sydney has been singing, writing, and performing since the age of 5. She always knew her purpose was to make music. Her rich, soulful style draws from the R&B powerhouses she was raised on: Mariah Carey, Mary J Blige, Toni Braxton, Brandy, etc.
She launched her professional career in 2018 featuring on multiple tracks with VMA-winning group DaCav, with whom she also made her 2019 directorial debut: anti-bullying anthem Let’s Take A Walk. Shot in Sydney’s hometown of Richmond, Maine, the music video garnered widespread praise and earned over 100,000 views on Facebook alone within the first months of its release.
Since then, Sydney has been hustling tirelessly as a solo artist. She has featured on projects by Vado and Mesa and collaborates with other New England artists such as International Show, Shane Reis, and Sarah Violette. She continues to release singles and projects, often accompanied by lush, self-directed music videos. Several of her tracks have been featured on major streaming playlists, such as heartbreak bop Thorns on the TIDAL curated playlist "RISING: R&B". 2021 saw Sydney open for viral hip-hop starlets Bia and Erica Banks, and she performs as frequently as possible in Maine, New England, and at showcases nationally.
